I am generally available during lunch and 7th period in Room 223. I am also available via email.
Ask your child what he/she is learning in class? If someone can explain an idea, they understand it better. See that they have a scientific calculator ($12 variety), a good place to study, and a good time to study.
Students without internet access are welcome to use the computers in my classroom or in the school library.
How Can I Find Out How My Child Is Doing In Class?
Grades are posted online. You can access them using the ABI (Aeries Browser Interface) once you have received your PIN number from Jack Smith, Assistant Principal.
Class Goals:
My goal is to have students see their own world a little differently by studying the world of science. Chemistry offers new things to see, but also new ways to think. I want students to go away, not necessarily as chemists, but as people with a richer and more appreciative view of the world.
On a more measurable level, I like to have a concrete goal for my classes.
In AP Chemistry, our goal is to learn enough chemistry to pass the AP Chemistry exam given in May.
In General Chemistry, our goal is to learn enough chemistry to score well on the
STAR chemistry exam.
Support:
Thank you for your generous Wish Night donations. We have been able to buy an LCD projector, new models, software, color-changing periodic tables, magnetic ceiling hooks, and other useful pieces of equipment with the money.
If you have any old calculators you are not using, we can always use some in our “calculator box.” In chemistry, we most often require simple four-function calculators, although simple scientific calculators (with logs and exponents) are also useful.
